LAND ROVER DISCOVERY IS A SAFETY PIONEER

In 1989, Range Rover was the first Land Rover model to include anti-lock brakes. Discovery would have ABS, for the first time, in 1996.

The North American 1994 Discovery had a standard driver airbag and an optional passenger airbag. In 2014, the Discovery Sport’s debut year, it featured a pedestrian airbag, also a first for an SUV.

Land Rover originally developed hill descent control (HDC) for the Freelander model. HDC made its way to the Discovery after being refined to combine ABS with traction control and low-range gears.

The third-generation Discovery meshed several electronic traction control systems. The goal – to make driving on and off road as safe as possible. These systems included HDC, 4-wheel Electronic Traction Control, and Dynamic Stability Control.

Discovery 4 was the first Discovery version to use the optional “Surround Camera System”. In 2017, the fifth generation Discovery combined a multitude of ADAS to receive a 5 Star rating from Euro NCAP. Euro NCAP has safety tested cars and SUV’s, in the European market, since 1997.

These systems play an important role in crash avoidance and are standard equipment on every 2019 Discovery.

Autonomous Emergency Braking

Lane Keep Assist

DRIVE PACK

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go

When you’re in slow moving traffic, this feature keeps your Discovery from getting too close to slowing or stopping vehicles in front of you. When the vehicle in front of you stops, your Discovery comes to a smooth halt.

High-Speed Emergency Braking

As good as your Driver’s Ed instructor without the bow tie. High-Speed Emergency Braking detects imminent front collisions at higher speeds and tells you to brake. If you don’t, your Discovery brakes automatically.

Blind Spot Assist

A warning light appears on your side mirrors when you change lanes into traffic entering your blind spot. Torque is applied to the steering wheel, warning you to “stay in your lane.”

Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter

It’s like having a second set of eyes. Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter recognize speed limit and no passing signs, then displays them on the instrument cluster for easy viewing.

DRIVER ASSIST PACK

If you’d rather not choose between parking or driving aids, the Driver Assist Pack is for you. This package combines the best features of the Park Pack and the Drive Pack while adding a couple more.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist
